Complex City

| Michael Heizer has been building this piece since the early 1970's, and construction continues. The "city" consists of a few "complexes", made of earthen mounds, slopes, and conctete. The series of complexes surround a central "court" which, when complete, will be around a mile long. Complex One has been complete for some years, and the other forms are in various states of completion. Located in central Nevada, at least sixty miles from the nearest community, the site is off the phone and electrical grid, and is one of only a few structures in a vast valley. Heizer has lived and worked at the site for over twenty years. |
