Description: This plant at Plaster City is one of the largest gypsum plants in the country, and is owned by U.S. Gypsum, a company that manufactures more than half of the drywall in the United States. The source of the gypsum is the Fish Creek mine, connected to the plant by a railway. A new  $100 million wallboard plant was constructed at the site recently. USG filed for bankruptcy  protection in 2001 due to asbestos litigation, but is expected to continue operating normally indefinately.
