Fort Greely
|
|
| Home of the Cold Region Test Activity and the Northern Warfare Training Center, however, recent BRAC decisions will relocate these two main commands to nearby Fort Wainwright, reducing Fort Greely's status to a training area. These two commands manage test range and training areas for the Army and the Air Force that total more than 662,000 acres. Grounds in and around Fort Greely have been used for chemical weapons training in the 1950s and 1960s, and some sites still have chemical agents present. Radioactive activities have also had an impact on the site. |
