Alaska Pipeline Terminus
|
|
| The Trans-Alaskan Pipeline was completed in 1977 at a cost of $8 billion. It is 48" in diameter and 800 miles long, connecting the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay and the surrounding North Slope, to the port at Valdez. The capacity of the pipe is around two million barrels per day. With an estimated 10 billion barrels of crude (though 80% has now been extracted), the oilfields of Prudhoe Bay are the largest in North America. |
